Vinegar! Vinegar! Need I say more?

Oh the pages I could write on vinegar! If you aren't familiar with it you should get to know this very healthy eco friendly magic in a bottle!! The uses for vinegar are endless! From cooking & gardening to health and beauty it's a very versatile sour liquid. If your not much into the smell of vinegar it dissipates as it dries. A clever trick to disguise the smell would be to place some orange, lemon, lime or other citrus peels in a sealed container of vinegar and let it set for a few weeks before usage. I use regular white distilled and apple cider. The generic works just fine for this frugal momma. I make my own products with the already cheap vinegar so there is no need in buying the commercial "cleaning" vinegar for more money. Generic works just as good!

Neither you nor I have the time to type and read all the cleaning recipes for the uses of vinegar. Here's a helpful link to the recipes of homemade cleaning solutions for your household using vinegar! Remember it doesn't have the harsh chemicals that all the other cleaning supplies contain. It's an all natural product. White distilled is usually made from corn, apples, and water. It's the fermentation of sugar into alcohol and alcohol to vinegar. You can even make your own but I haven't ventured into that yet!
1001 uses for vinegar

Now to the outdoor & garden uses of vinegar!! Be sure and soak your veggies and fruits whether they come from a store or your garden. Soak about 1/4 cup of vinegar to a sink full of water for about 15minutes! Careful not to leave berries too long! Rinse and air dry! It prolongs the life of your produce a little longer and gets it clean as well!  What could be better than an all natural herbicide, fungicide and insecticide?  It's great for killing grass and weeds. Vinegar and sunlight will kill grass and weeds in a day.  Use as an eco-friendly insecticide. Slugs are real pests, because they eat both vegetables, especially lettuces and plants, especially hostas. In this case, vinegar acts as a poison to the slugs because, if you spray slugs with it directly, they will die. You can treat snails in exactly the same way. However, because vinegar is also a herbicide, be careful where you spray your vinegar! Improve germination. Did you know that you can improve your germination success rate of seeds by using vinegar? This is especially useful for those seeds that are more difficult to germinate such as asparagus and okra, morning glories and moonflowers. Rub the seeds gently first between two pieces of coarse sandpaper. Then soak the seeds overnight in 2 cups of warm water, with about 4oz of vinegar and a squirt of  dish soap and plant the next day as normal. You can use the same method, but without the sandpaper for nasturtiums, parsley, beetroot, and parsnips. Also, protect those garden tools! After you have been digging in the garden with your gardening tools, soak them in a bucket of half-strength vinegar. This will act as a fungicide and kill off anything that may be lurking unsuspectingly so that there is no possibility of cross-contamination when you use them next. Those highlighted are just a few ideas among the many for gardening with vinegar!

**Awwhh, health and beauty vinegar! My favorite topic! The uses of vinegar with a variety of plants or essential oils for cosmetic purposes can be traced back to the Romans and was fashionable during the nineteenth century!I absolutely love a vinegar hair rinse!  Because of the acidity I only use it on our hair once a week! It's a perfect rinse agent! It naturally lightens the hair by stripping away all the greasy waxy build up from shampoos, conditioners and other hair products. It lightens the color, manages fly aways & frizzy hair leaving it beautifully smooth! My daughter's hair is a living witness to vinegar! My grandmother use to use a vinegar rinse on my hair as a little girl and it just stuck with me. I mix one cup of white distilled vinegar with 3 cups of water. I shampoo and then rise with the vinegar mixture leaving it on for about 2minutes. I rinse the hair again with water only a few more times to make sure everything is out of the hair! You'll see it work wonders! It's your choice on apple cider or white. I prefer white! I can do more things with white!

The benefits to drinking apple cider vinegar are astonishing (if you can choke it down)!!
It freshens your mouth, treats acid reflux, prevents indigestion, soothes a sore throat, it brightens your skin, helps you lose weight, and clears a stuffy nose just to name a few things that drinking apple cider vinegar will help or cure.
